Four Young Men Wrote a Letter to Their Neighbor — But They Never Expected THIS Reply

Four young men wrote a letter to a neighbor they had never really spoken to.

They weren't complaining about noise. They weren't asking for money. And they certainly weren't trying to cause trouble.

They just wanted something they couldn't have in their own home.

Now, that might sound a little strange. But believe me, their reason was actually quite sweet.

And when a reply finally arrived, something about it was so unusual that the young men could hardly believe what they were reading.

But here's the really beautiful part. What happened after that letter was even more touching than the reply itself.

Hello everyone! Scott here with CreepyWorld, and today I've got a little story that I think every animal lover will appreciate.

Our story takes us back to 2019, to Bristol, England.

A young man named Jack McCrossan had recently moved into a house with three friends.

All four were engineers, starting a new chapter in their lives, sharing a home, going to work, and getting used to being independent.

Everything seemed pretty good.

Well... almost everything.

You see, all four of these young men had grown up around animals. Dogs, cats, and other little companions had always been part of their lives.

But their new landlord had one very strict rule.

No pets allowed.

And if you've ever grown up with a dog, you'll understand why that can be difficult.

You come home after a long day, open the door, and there's nobody wagging their tail, nobody running over to greet you.

For these four friends, something was missing.

But then, one ordinary day, something caught their attention.

As they were coming home from work, they noticed a beautiful black dog looking out from a neighbor's window.

And I'm sure you know that look dogs give you sometimes.

Head up, eyes wide open, watching everything that moves outside.

Well, the boys were immediately interested.

They soon learned that the dog was a Labrador and German Shepherd mix.

And the more they saw her, the more they wished they could spend some time with her.

Now, most people would probably just admire the dog from a distance and carry on with their day.

But these four had a different idea.

They decided to write their neighbor a letter.

Yes, an actual handwritten letter!

And I have to say, you've got to admire their courage, because imagine receiving a letter from four grown men asking if they could borrow your dog!

They introduced themselves and explained that their landlord wouldn't allow pets, even though they had all grown up with animals.

Then they made an offer.

If the owner ever needed someone to walk the dog, they would happily volunteer.

If the dog ever needed looking after, they'd be delighted to help.

And if none of that was necessary, well, even walking past their windows with the dog would make their day a little brighter!

They ended their letter with a wonderfully honest confession.

Adult life, they explained, was a struggle without animals.

And underneath, they signed it simply:

The boys from number 23.

Now, imagine being those four young men.

You've just sent a letter to someone you barely know, practically begging to spend time with their dog.

What if the neighbor thinks you're completely ridiculous?

What if they never respond?

Well, fortunately, they didn't have to wonder for long.

Because a reply arrived.

And this is where the story takes a wonderful little turn.

The letter wasn't written from the perspective of the dog's owners.

Oh, no.

It was written by the dog herself!

Her name was Stevie Ticks.

Of course, her owner, Sarah Tolman, had actually written the letter. But she decided to answer as though Stevie were speaking directly to the boys.

And what a personality this little dog apparently had!

Stevie introduced herself as a friendly, energetic girl who had been adopted from Cyprus.

She loved meeting new people and was more than happy to make four new friends.

But there was one small condition.

Her friendship wasn't completely free!

The boys would have to provide five ball throws a day, along with belly scratches whenever she demanded them.

Ha! Now that's a dog who knows exactly what she wants!

And honestly, I think that's a pretty reasonable deal.

But the sweetest detail?

The reply came with a paw print.

A little signature from Stevie herself.

Can you imagine how happy those four young men must have been?

Their slightly embarrassing letter had turned into an invitation to meet the dog they'd been admiring from next door.

And a few days later, on December 15, they finally got their chance.

The boys met Stevie, took her for a walk, and spent time playing with her.

And remember how the letter had described her as full of energy?

Well, that certainly wasn't an exaggeration!

According to Jack, Stevie was so excited that she just kept running.

But here's the part that really touched me.

After spending time with her new friends, Stevie eventually had to go home.

And you might think that would be the end of it.

A lovely afternoon, a happy dog, four smiling young men.

But apparently, Stevie had enjoyed herself so much that she didn't want the fun to end.

Her owner later explained that after Stevie returned home, she sat whining near the door and window for hours.

Just think about that for a moment.

Those four young men had spent weeks wishing they could have a dog around the house.

And now, after just one visit, that very dog seemed to be wishing she could go back to them.

Isn't that something?

And it wasn't just a one-time meeting.

The neighbors created a group chat so they could arrange more walks and visits.

What started as a slightly awkward handwritten request had become a genuine friendship.

When Jack shared their story online, hundreds of thousands of people fell in love with Stevie and her four new friends.

But for me, the most important part wasn't how many people liked the story.

It was something Sarah said about the experience.

She appreciated that the boys had made an effort to connect with their neighbors, especially at a time when so many people live side by side without really knowing one another.

And you know what? She's absolutely right.

Sometimes we get so busy with our own lives that we forget how much a tiny gesture can mean to someone else.

Now, there's one final detail worth sharing.

The boys eventually moved away from Bristol. But in a 2024 update, Stevie's family explained that they had continued encouraging her to make friends and enjoy time with other people.

So even though the original neighbors couldn't stay together forever, the spirit of that little letter lived on.

And I think that's beautiful.

Because these four young men didn't ask for anything expensive. They didn't need a special gift or some grand gesture.

All they wanted was a little time with a dog.

And Sarah didn't have to share that happiness with them.

But she did.

And in return, she gained new friends, Stevie gained four enthusiastic playmates, and countless people were reminded how wonderful a little kindness can be.

Sometimes, friendship begins with something as simple as saying hello.

Or, in this case, writing a letter.

Now, I'd love to know something.

If you had a friendly dog and four young neighbors wrote to you asking to take your dog for a walk, would you say yes?

And have you ever had an animal form an unexpected friendship with someone?

Tell me in the comments, because I genuinely love hearing stories like these.

And if Stevie's story brought a smile to your face, please give this video a like. It's a small way to show some appreciation for the kindness we still see in the world.

And if you enjoy real stories about good people, wonderful animals, and those little moments that remind us there's still plenty of love around us, I'd be delighted if you subscribed to CreepyWorld.

Because sometimes the smallest stories leave us with the biggest smiles.

Thank you so much for watching, take good care of yourselves, and I'll see you in the next one!
