Hello, hello everyone! Scott here with you, and today I’m bringing you a very, very heartwarming story. An 82-year-old woman goes missing in the Oregon woods, and rescuers face one strange problem: the dog who might help them find her almost never barks.

Would she make a sound when it mattered most?

Stay with me, because the ending is wonderful. And please give us a like and subscribe to Awesome! I promise, you won’t regret hearing this one.

This happened on December 29, 2025, near Elmira, Oregon. Karen Joyce Davis had gone out with her blue heeler, Cami. But Karen didn’t return, and a search got underway.

Now, I want you to hear one little detail from the sheriff’s missing-person alert, because it matters.

The alert described Karen’s purple winter coat and red-and-white flannel shirt, details people could watch for in the trees. But the most telling line was about Cami: she was known to stay beside Karen if she fell.

Think about that. If something happened to Karen, this dog probably wouldn’t run to the nearest house or road. She’d stay right there with her.

Beautiful loyalty, yes. But for searchers, it made things harder.

Karen was living with dementia, and the searchers had been told she might not respond when they called her name.

And Cami? Well, she had a reputation for being quiet. Very quiet.

They searched wooded roads and trails as temperatures dropped toward freezing. For Karen, every hour mattered.

One of the volunteers was Katie Sciotto. She and two other searchers had already spent hours checking paths and dead ends. And still, no sign of Karen.

Then Katie decided to try something.

She called out, “Cami!”

And would you believe it?

From somewhere roughly three hundred yards away came a bark.

A bark! From the dog everyone had warned them probably wouldn’t make a sound!

And listen to this.

Katie and the others started making their way toward it. The ground was rough, and Katie later described stumbling and falling as they pushed through.

She called Cami’s name again.

Another bark.

And then another answer as they got closer.

Think about that. Every bark gave them a direction.

No dramatic chase. No dog running miles to find a stranger. Cami simply stayed where she was and made herself heard.

And when the volunteers finally reached them, there was Karen, alive.

And Cami was lying right across her legs.

The rescuers believed Cami’s body warmth had helped Karen through the cold.

But Karen was suffering from hypothermia, so this was far from over.

The team cared for her and then carried her out through the difficult terrain to an ambulance.

And I have to tell you my favorite part.

Katie said that while rescuers were helping Karen, Cami wagged her tail and licked their fingers.

When more people arrived with bright lights and radios, she became nervous, and she was reluctant to leave Karen.

So what did the team do?

They gave her some cheese from their emergency food supplies.

Cheese!

After all that, I’d say she deserved a whole packet, wouldn’t you?

We’ll never know exactly what Cami understood that day.

But we do know this: she stayed with Karen, and when someone finally called for her, she answered.

And that made all the difference.
