Special Someone
Once Steve and his girlfriend had been introduced to Angela, they realized that she was truly an angel sent from heaven.
Because Angela was in fact Angela Hopson, the Executive Director of a charity called SOAR: Street Outreach Animal Response Initiative.
Hopson in fact used to be homeless herself, so she understood more than anyone the difficulty of Steve and Volena’s plight.

But even she couldn’t have foreseen the true extent of their hardships—as the couple had another difficult secret they were harboring.
New Challenges
It must have been hard enough for Steve and Volena, considering they were both homeless and living miles apart in different cities.
But when you add into that the many dogs that Steve so lovingly took into his care, they were both under a lot of pressure and life must have been incredibly hard.
So imagine how much harder their lives would have been, when Volena received the devastating news that she had cancer.

Even though they had received so much kindness and help from well-wishers around the world, this could be one hardship they might not overcome.
Reaching Out
Despite this devastating news, the help and love that Steve and Volena had received from so many people was a huge source of strength and hope for their family.
And the truth was that Hopson and her organization were incredibly helpful in trying to work with them and find them a solution to their situation.
Thanks to the donations raised, and the help from SOAR, Steve and Volena were able to receive a new trailer for them all to live in, and never be homeless again.

And that wasn’t the only amazing way that their lives were changed forever.
Medical Care
As if the amazing kindness and money donations weren’t enough, Steve and his pups received something else that proved invaluable in setting up a new and successful life on their own.
Because thanks to the money raised and the help of so many kind strangers, Steve received full medical funds to pay for spaying and neutering all of his dogs—as well as being covered for any veterinary and medical care for the rest of their lives.

And that wasn’t the only amazing news that this special family received with regard to medical matters.
Happy News
Now that Steve, Volena, and the dogs were happily moved into their new home, it seemed that life was going to get easier for all of them after all going through so many hardships.
And for keen followers of this very special family’s plight, they received some even more amazing news that lifted their spirits even higher.
Because Edrington’s wife Mickey announced on the donation page, that Volena had now been cleared of cancer!

Fans around the world rejoiced as it seemed that these precious souls were finally getting the happy ending they deserved.
Lessons Learned
As you can imagine, Steve and Volena were incredibly touched by all the kindness they had received over the course of this amazing story.
“He wants to thank everyone that is following his journey,” Edrington wrote on the fundraiser page. “And let everyone know that he feels it in his heart and wishes he could thank every single person that has helped throughout this journey.”
But the truth was, it was their own kindness that had inspired people around the world to reach out to them and give them a helping hand.
