Shenna Barry had waited for this moment all her life. After working her way up the corporate ladder, she was finally able to afford her dream home. It had everything she was looking for: a huge open kitchen, three bedrooms and a breathtaking garden. She needed a ride-on mower to keep it tidy.
The new mother thought this was her dream home in her dream area. But there was something she hadn’t considered.

Moving day was coming soon and after two days of unloading and unpacking boxes, Shenna was finally done. But when she sat down on the sofa, she saw another van outside. But this time it was for the next door.
Shenna wanted to introduce herself, but she saw that her neighbor was an avid lawnmower, so she didn’t want to disturb her while she was working on her garden. Maybe they would even disregard it, she thought. So far, everyone in the neighborhood had been incredibly polite and friendly. Your new neighbors had to be the same, right?

Shenna quickly went to her new neighbors to introduce herself and noted the flashy red sports car parked outside. She rang the doorbell and waited a few seconds. She was excited to meet a nice couple after the fraternity house they suffered from last year wreaked havoc with soapy water pranks in the neighborhood.
The front door opened and Shenna was introduced to the middle-aged couple, Alice and Louis. They seemed nice enough. But Shenna had no idea how wrong she was.

A few months later, the new neighbors had settled. It was summer so Shenna and her neighbors were on a mission to clean up their yards and kill all the weeds that had popped up in the spring.
Shenna liked to pack up her leaves and grass clippings and save them for mulch to fertilize her garden after she mowed the lawn. She peered curiously over the fence and noticed that her neighbors were much tidier.

One day Shenna finished her weekend gardening and left the grass clippings and neatly raked leaves on the lawn while she jumped out to do some errands.
Even though she had only been gone for half an hour, she returned from the grocery store and found something that left her completely speechless.

Shenna juggled her baby and the shopping bags, got out of her car and walked to the front door, but the sight in front of her made her mouth drop.
All of the grass clippings and leaves she’d left on her lawn had been gathered on her porch and maliciously scattered! But that was not all.

There was something else. A note was on her front door. And what was roughly scrawled on it made Shenna stagger.
When Shenna reread the obvious threat and stared at the chaos in disbelief, his temper began to ignite. Who did these people think they were? Who would do that?

The note read, “If this NEVER happens again, and you don’t get your lawn right from now on, there will be consequences …”
Shenna was angry. She wondered who would do that for a second, but she knew exactly who it was. And just like that, Shenna marched to Alice and Louis’ house. They couldn’t get away with it.

Shenna rang the doorbell and as soon as Alice opened it, she let her have it and insisted that if she ever attempted such a stunt again, she would call the police.
But Alice had no answer. Her embarrassed husband entered the room and immediately apologized, but she stood there with an angry grin on her face. Shenna had none of it.

She began a tirade against the woman, but Alice did not seem concerned. Shenna decided that her life’s work would be to improve.

For six months, Shenna was happy to annoy her neighbor. She purposely did not mow the front lawn, but made sure to mow the garden.
You see, she wanted to show how she bagged those cuttings and laid them on the lawn for her neighbor to see. Her plan worked and Alice was seething with anger over what she had done. Then Alice decided to take revenge.

The feud between Alice and Shenna lasted for months. One night Alice poured a whole bottle of dish soap into Shenna’s well while she slept, so Shenna tossed Alice’s plants in vinegar and killed her prized rose bushes.
It went too far. Then Alice did something so diabolical that Shenna was forced to act.

Just when things couldn’t get worse, Alice began to play music at a deafening volume. Shanna threw herself over all night and felt the bass from Alice’s huge, newly purchased sound system.
Shenna’s temper was like fireworks, and when the sparks began to hiss, there was very little time to duck and cover. This was the last straw.

After a restless night, Shenna rubbed her tired eyes as she took a sip of coffee. She looked bleakly out the kitchen window and was surprised to see Alice rolling up her driveway with a police officer.

Shenna ran out the door to confront Alice and defend herself. She couldn’t believe she had law enforcement involved! But the meddling woman was adamant: the code officer was there to force Shenna to clean up her lawn.
Then Shenna saw something outside Alice’s house. Suddenly her stern mouth relaxed and a slow grin spread across her face.

Shenna narrowed her eyes and looked at Alice’s red sports car … the one that was always parked on the street.
Right there and then she knew what to do. Eventually Alice would get what came to her. If Alice wanted to play dirty, she could do better.

Shenna sat quietly by the window, smiling to herself and watching the scene play out. The tow truck had arrived and Alice did have a problem.
She scolded and screamed, trying desperately to stop them from towing her car. It raged and raged, but couldn’t stop it. She watched helplessly as the truck with her car disappeared down the street.

Shenna had spoken to the code officer and towed Alice’s car from where it was parked on the street – right in front of her own house.
She sat and grinned when she saw the woman unleash a torrent of curses in blind rage. But the poetic justice of it all was yet to come.

Calling the authorities was Alice’s final effort to make Shenna’s life difficult. The house was a free-standing unit and was not monitored by a homeowners association. But Alice hadn’t thought about what codes she was breaking.

Coincidentally, enforcement of the code cannot force you to mow your lawn. However, if you leave a vehicle on the road for more than 72 hours without moving it, it is likely to be confiscated.
$ 600 and a lot of frayed nerves later, Alice finally got her car back. And Shenna? She hasn’t heard a look from Alice since.
