Here’s another story with sad beginnings that turns into one of pure joy. A young pit bull named Misha and her litter of puppies were kept on a rooftop in Tulum, Mexico.
They were unable to leave the rooftop, which offered them little protection from the intense heat of the sun, and they had very little access to food and water.
Their owner was overwhelmed with the responsibility of owning so many dogs, and he was looking for a way to better take care of them.
Cathy Cairelli and Lisa Edwards, members of an organization called Help Tulum Dogs, found Misha and her puppies on the rooftop and desperately wanted to help.
They brought food and water, as well as a large tarp to protect the animals from the sun.
Not long after that, they took the puppies to the vet, and on the way there decided that they just couldn’t return the dogs to that rooftop. The owner agreed and gladly gave up the dogs for adoption.
Two of the puppies sadly died from parvovirus, but the rest survived and managed to find themselves wonderful homes! Misha is still looking for a home, however.
She is currently being fostered with the family that adopted one of her puppies, Pepita. At this foster home she’s discovered a new joy in life… the beach!
Misha loves running around and splashing through the water, a kind of freedom that had never before been available to her.
Misha is hardly older than a puppy and is still looking for a permanent home. She’s just 3.5 years old.
Share away, people.
