Every morning after getting a good night's sleep, the girl's parents noticed new bruises on her body. In the beginning, this would happen only occasionally, and they assumed that she hit herself in her sleep. The bruises were pretty light, and they didn't think much of it.

At first, they thought that she might've had iron deficiency, so they made an appointment with their family doctor. Just as they were about to head out for their appointment, they heard a knock on their door.

It was the social services. They informed the girl's parents that they'd received a call from the summer camp about a possible child abuse situation. Her parents were in shock.
